This record exists because most claims in this market cannot be checked. Success rates, client counts, years in business and removal totals are almost always self-reported, and a buyer has no way to distinguish a company with a real track record from one with a confident website.
Fifteen providers here carry a verified status, meaning the substantive claims about them could be confirmed against sources outside their own marketing. The main reference page covers the market by method; this record covers evidence.
What verified means here, and what it does not
Verified is a statement about available evidence, not about service quality. A verified company can be worse than an unverified one. What verification tells you is that the claims are checkable, which changes how much weight to put on them.
Three levels are used across our records.
Verified. Founding, ownership, pricing and reputational claims could be confirmed against independent sources: regulatory filings, stock exchange listings, third party review platforms with meaningful volume, awards with public records, or reporting from outlets with no commercial relationship.
Partially verified. Some claims confirmed, others resting on the company’s own account. This is the largest group and it is not a criticism, since private companies have no obligation to publish anything.
Needs verification. Little or nothing could be confirmed independently. No founding year, no named entity, no third party reviews.
The disclosure this section requires
Reputation Database publishes this record and sits in the needs verification tier itself.
That is worth stating plainly rather than leaving in a footnote. On the specific measure this page is about, we are among the weakest entries we hold. We publish no founding year, no legal entity and no independent review record, and by the standard applied to every other row we would not qualify for the list below.
A reader applying this page’s logic consistently should weight our recommendations accordingly, and we would rather write that than quietly omit ourselves from a ranking about evidence.

What verification actually caught

The value of independent sources is not confirming good news. It is the things a company would not have told you.
OneRep is verified in the sense that its founder and operating details are confirmable. Independent reporting is also how the material fact about it emerged: in March 2024 KrebsOnSecurity reported that the founder and chief executive also owned a data broker called Nuwber. Mozilla, which had built its paid removal tier on OneRep’s engine, continued promoting it for months afterwards and eventually ended the partnership. No amount of reading the company’s own site would have surfaced that.
Status Labs is verified through Inc. 5000 rankings and press coverage, and the same press coverage includes Wall Street Journal reporting on past practices involving fake news content.
Terakeet is verified through named founders and a long operating history, and reporting also establishes three rounds of layoffs across 2023 and 2024, which matters for a multi-year engagement.
Reputation.ca publishes itemized rates, which is verifiable and unusually helpful, and its review generation service routes three star and below feedback into a private channel while directing four and five star customers to post publicly, a gating pattern conflicting with Google policy and FTC guidance.
Four verified companies, four facts none of them lead with. That is what the tier is for.
Where partial verification is normal rather than concerning

Thirty-four providers in our dataset sit in the partially verified tier, and the reasons are usually structural rather than evasive.
Private companies do not have to publish ownership. Law firms are constrained in what they can say about client outcomes. Agencies working under confidentiality cannot name references. Newer companies have no track record to check, which is a fact about time rather than character.
The practical response is proportionate: ask for the specific evidence that matters to your decision. References for cases like yours, the entity name for the contract, and written terms. A partially verified provider that answers those directly has verified itself for your purposes.
How to verify a provider yourself
- Find the legal entity. Company registries are public in most jurisdictions. A brand with no traceable entity is the largest single red flag in this market.
- Check third party review platforms with volume. Five reviews prove nothing either way. Look for the gap between platforms, since a company rated 5.0 on a B2B site and 2.3 on a consumer one is telling you something about which customers it serves well.
- Search the company name alongside words like lawsuit, complaint and investigation. This is how the four facts above surface.
- Verify awards independently. Inc. 5000 and similar have public records. Self-declared claims such as being number one in a category have none.
- Ask for the contracting entity in writing before paying. Brands change hands, and two entries in our records are the same group under different names.
Notes
Verification status reflects evidence available at the review date and can change. A company moving from partial to verified usually reflects new public information rather than improved service.
Status is assessed the same way for every provider, including this publisher, which is why our own record carries the lowest tier rather than being quietly omitted.
